Ginette Gibeault, known also as JBO, is an artist, a sailor and a yoga teacher. She has lived in Fort Lauderdale on a sailboat since 1987, enjoying life in south Florida. Her life is dedicated to creativity in different ways. Painting and yoga are her main focus in life.
Born in Montreal, Canada, she graduated from college and studied for two years in advertising, then three years at the Graphic School in Montreal. She worked in graphic design for a period of five years in Montreal for different companies, such as newspapers, printers and publishers. She enjoys silk-screen art and started to print and design posters for different school projects.
Ginette started to travel at the end of the seventies and spent most of her winters in Central America and Mexico for a period of nine years. She became interested at an early age in yoga and everything about metaphysics. She started to learn Hatha Yoga from people in her travels. Rapidly it became a daily routine. Back in Montreal, she took private classes from a friend who was a yoga teacher, she also attended Collette Maher Yoga School for advance classes. Collette Maher studied with Andree Van Lysebeth, a Belgium teacher who studied in India with Swami Sivananda.
In 1982 she took classes to become a yoga instructor and began teaching at different centers and colleges in Montreal and volunteered to teach children in kindergarten which she enjoyed immensely.
When she arrived in Florida with her son, she studied casting and fabrication and became a jeweler exhibiting her jewelry in different art shows in Florida. After a while, she felt the need to create on paper. Watercolor was the first medium that she worked with extensively, studying it with different well known artists. She became a member of the Gold Coast Watercolor Society of Fort Lauderdale and became their first vice-president.
Ginette has continued to teach Hatha Yoga in private classes while pursuing her interest in painting. Yoga is her discipline...she longs to be more in contact with her inner self, to really understand who she is and what life is all about; and painting is her "Joie do Vivre"...painting brings peace and a full state of mind, this is the language of the heart.
